Blue Poison Dart Frog

Blue Poison Dart Frog

Poison Dart frogs can be found from Costa Rico to Brazil. They are tiny, but deadly. One frog has enough venom to kill 10 men. The Emberá people of Colombia have used its powerful venom for centuries to tip their blowgun darts when hunting. Poison dart frogs raised in captivity and isolated from insects in their native habitat never develop venom. This one was photographed at the Life Science Museum in Durham, NC.
